Historical news
The first news about a castle in this place are dated on the X century, when
it was built by the Spoleto dukes.
It was then run by count Landone, of Sora, and then, starting 1075, by a St. Bendetto monastery.
In 1160 it was totally destroyed by Bernardo of Alvito and immediately rebuilt.
It was run by the Aquino counts, the Naples Kingdom, then, from 1406, by the dukes of
Cantelmo family. In 1580 it became part of the Boncompagni feudal territories.
The tower was built in XIV century, most probably by the Aquino counts. Is has a square base
and it is a bit narrower at the top. A small rocky ladder leads to the main entrance.
